We had to request a cloth to clean the table ourselves, as the staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than attending to the customers. Despite ordering cake with our drinks, we had to remind them to bring it, and it was only average in quality. There was no apology for the oversight. We were very disappointed with the experience and do not plan on returning.
I can't believe that a small café in Royden Park (formerly known as the Barking Mad Café) has reopened after COVID. They now only accept card payments and I heard you have to order using your phone. A ciabatta now costs over £6, whereas it used to be under £2 for a bacon sausage butty and £1 for a coffee. Despite having 4 staff members, there were no customers during my visit. I wonder why that is.
What a brilliant little cafe, don't think it's open on a Monday but I go when I'm in Roydon for a brew and cake, they do a snack menu thats so cheap you wont believe it! I don't get the coffee as I'm not a fan but at £1 a cup it's not going to be Starbucks! Always ran by volunteers from all ages and backgrounds, feel like you're supporting something worthwhile and not being ripped off! They also have second hand books for sale which are worth a rummage, they sell duck food and have free dog biscuits and poo bags. They also did Gluten free options of cake
This is a no frills cafe but great to escape the rain when you’re at Royden. Great hot chocolate perfect to warm up now the weathers getting colder
Cheap. Friendly. Free fruit for kids, free treats for animals, books, and some tasty food. Great little place. It is open air though so best coming on a dry day!
