We also went to their garden in July had fish chips picnic in the garden it was lovely a very pleasant atmosphere. I give 5 star.
We have had a delightful afternoon at this quaint and quirky pub, celebrating a friends 80th birthday. It has some fascinating artefacts, stuffed animals, old fashioned telephones, dinky cars and all mannaer of bottles to name but a few of the ornaments. We were very well looked after by the staff, having a delicious cream tea with dainty sandwiches and homemade cakes. The bar was open and we were able to have an Elvis look alike to serenade us and even manage a bit of a dance! Thank you to the hosts, it was a lovely, memorable afternoon.
My grandparents met at this pub 70 years ago, and visited frequently throughout their married life. We always have family events here. The staff are delightful, everything is very reasonably priced, and their marquee at the back is excellent for small/medium sized events. Cannot recommend this place enough!
Visited recently after a gap of some years. They now do food on weekday lunchtimes (I think they are closed on Mondays though). We had a very acceptable ham, egg and chips and a good pint of London Pride. Extremely friendly staff and it's a bit like visiting somebody's house. Nice quirky pub.
My wife and I saw an advertisement on our local community group stating that this establishment was offering good quality fish and chips for takeout. According to the group, the cost was £7.50 each, but orders had to be placed in advance. My wife called to place an order, and the person on the phone, who sounded like an older woman, was abrupt and failed to listen to her questions, speaking over her instead. Despite this, we managed to place our order. When we arrived to pick up our food, my wife encountered the same rude older woman who told her the price was £8.50 each, even though the community group had advertised it for £7.50. The woman seemed unconcerned with this discrepancy. My wife only had £15 in cash, as we had only ordered for two people. Additionally, there were dogs running around the area, which we found unhygienic. It appears that the price may change depending on the customer, as members of the local group continued to report paying £7.50. This will be our first and last time using this pub takeaway, as we found the portion size of the fish and chips to be small for the price.
