We waited to get a drink only to be told we would have to wait until they could come and serve us. Not a great welcome! Finally served just as we were about to get up and leave. Not sure if we would go back which is a shame as place looked like a nice restaurant . Hopefully they will be able to spread staff out better
We booked a table for four for a Sunday lunch with our neighbours. The place was really busy which was a good sign. Decor and ambience isn't a strong point of the Duck Inn, it's very barn-like and would benefit from a feature, such as a central fireplace, in the large room with bench-like furniture. Our orders were taken promptly and the Barking Mad shiraz was an excellent wine to accompany our meals. My wife and I shared the fisherman's basket which was ample between the two of us, even though it didn't set our tastebuds on fire. I think I expected more of the Duck Inn, It's a place for family groups and if you're after couple dining, better to Duck Out somewhere else.
We heard good reviews from friends about the Duck Inn and our meals didn't disappoint. A big variety. Staff were welcoming & friendly.
Had Mother's Day lunch here, chicken scollapini was delicious, salmon was lovely (skin wasn't crispy) fish and chips was ok standard - fishermans baskets were a bit ordinary. Sizes were a touch on the small side, especially for the prices.Service and atmosphere was nice, a touch chilly in there. Overall not too bad, wouldn't be a weekly dining option though due to prices.
After hearing there is a new owner and has re-opened with a new name, we decided to try it out with our group of local friends on Friday night. We were not disappointed. The food was awesome, the staff so friendly, helpful and goes to great lengths to explain the food available on the specials menu, wine suggestions etc. I was sold on the Crispy Duck once it was described in detail to me. A few had the big lamb shanks. The chicken kiev and fish and chips looked great. I loved the duck and could have had a second serviing but was full. Had a taste of the shank and the meat was very tender and the sauce I could almost lick the plate. Dessert was fantastic. I had the lime cheese cake ... yummo. My partner had the pannacotta which was a piece of art work and delicious. Definitely worth coming back for another dinner. Maybe lunch as well.Great work to the owners and staff.
