Contribuisci feedbackThe staff was extremely friendly, but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the quality of Phoenicia Diner, which is owned by the same people. We had tried Dixon about two years ago and weren't very impressed, so we thought we’d give it another chance tonight with takeout. The food was just average; I would definitely suggest dining in rather than ordering to go. The pork had a strong flavor of soy sauce and was dried out in some areas, as if it had been reheated all day. Sadly, this second experience hasn’t convinced me to come back.
I think we may have visited on a less-than-perfect night. They had already run out of brisket and chicken by 5:30 PM, the mashed potatoes were overly salty, and the mac and cheese lacked flavor. On a positive note, the vegetarian chickpea burger, the Dixon burger, and the fries were all good. Additionally, while it isn't directly related to the restaurant, there were quite a few flies outside.
We were warmly welcomed when we arrived and found it to be a motorcycle-friendly place, perfect for parking our bikes. One of my fellow riders ordered a specialty burger and absolutely loved it. I chose the steak fries, but I should have checked the ingredients; the cumin and a couple of other spices weren't to my taste. However, everything else was wonderful!
Nice enough. Hamburger thick and well prepared medium rare. But too lean! Not very beefy. Roll looks artisan and good. But very light fluffy tasteless and dry. But I haven’t had a good burger in a long time. Nice place. Interesting sides and desserts and very nice staff. Outside and inside dining.
This place is super cute. They offer counter style service, so you order at cashier and choose a table. Their was a great selection of local beers to choose from. We ordered the fried chicken plate and pork sandwich. The chicken was tasty, and the flavor from the brine was bright. The sides of corn bread and greens were ok. The pork was tender but lacked flavor, and the bread they chose to serve the sandwich on was a definite misfit. The pork au jus made the bread wet and soggy. A sour dough would have held up better, in my opinion. Nonetheless, we left full and satisfied.
