We love going to the Boathouse especially in the summer when you can enjoy the balcony overlooking Stoney Lake. The food is good especially their Wings and Fish and Chips and the staff are friendly
Service was great, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was so fun! We will absolutely return to the Boathouse!
Viamede's high end restaurant is Mount Julian. The Boathouse is their casual, bistro type eatery overlooking Stoney Lake. Views are thus terrific and so is the simple food. I loved their cellar salad made from grown on premises heirloom carrot & radish and heritage greens with a cider vinaigrette. The fish and chips (local lake perch and house cut fries) is a fabulous dish and the turkey walnut panini a satisfying hot sandwich.
I remember seeing this place on the 'Restaurant Makeover' reno show a few years back and wondered what the place was like now. Apparently right back to where they were before the show. Walking in, the place is sparse with no decoration, and an open kitchen doesn't help. Little ventilation and no air-con, so we chose to sit on the deck overlooking the lake. Only three umbrellas (one broken) to cover 10-12 tables so we were forced to sit in the sun on a very hot day. Trying to seek shade under the soffit we found the window frames covered in webs and bugs.We managed to grab a shady table before our food was served. The previous occupants' dishes were left there for a while and our server actually refilled our water glasses with the used jug from the previous table (had little Bobby already picked out the ice cubes with his bare hands?) New water, please. Pop servings were mostly water, however, so I guess that made up for it. Food bland and uninspiring - avoid the triple fried potato wedges unless you like eating dust.Unimpressed and disappointed, doubtfully will be back.
