Visited here last night with family. Told that my adult children (21,20, 18 18) would have to have ID to allow me to have a glass of wine even though they were having soft drinks. Company policy apparently. This is not clear before ordering...or paying for drinks. Bar staff rude to my son with the statement you don 't look 18 . Not really a very tactful way of asking for his ID and the others were panicked when they said they didn 't have ID on them as they knew they were not going to be drinking. Thanks for making my first drink out for a while a less than enjoyable experience.
I took my children in for an Afternoon meal after a visit to the cinema. My kids ordered a hot dog and Chips and chicken nuggets and chips, I had rump steak, cant go wrong, surely? Wrong, very wrong! The meals came out after twenty...minutes. My plate of steak, chips, peas had an extra,it looked like scrapings off the grill but it was moist and a lot of it. The waiter said the kitchen staff thought it to be a chip that got squashed by the steak, wrong! I'm not thick, this lump of vile mess tasted putrid, it was mixed in the peas and smeared on the steak. It was take your breathe away gagging bad. I will be calling for the kitchen and the staff to be inspected on this matter. Do yourselves a favour, avoid this place.
If you want a pint before mid day don't go here! Coffee coffee coffee endless people piling in for coffee. Any normal manager with a single brain cell would have one staff member preparing all the coffees and the other staff serving but be prepared...to wait a good twenty minutes watching the staff queue at the coffee machine. Great in the evening. But unless you are female and own a very short skirt be prepared and take your id whatever age you are otherwise you won't get in!
Had not been in this Witherspoon's for over two years and was disappointed by the fall in standards. The first member of staff we encountered was very surly. We had three ketchup bottles on our table and all three were empty. The whole place looked...ready for a spring clean. Shame it was not a more pleasant experience as I had taken my teenage grandson for lunch.
