We particularly liked the scallops with fennel and black pudding crumbles, the perfectly cooked black cod, and the grey mullet with colorful risotto and roasted tomato emulsion. For dessert, we had a clever combination of banana and navel, as well as a delicious blue cheese tart and a refreshing rhubarb sorbet. Each course was expertly prepared and served with attentive service and well-chosen wines. The meal was perfectly portioned and they were willing to accommodate dietary needs. This fantastic restaurant is a must-visit, and we look forward to returning when the menu changes each month.
My partner's mother visited us, and when her birthday was approaching, we decided to treat her to a special dinner. We chose the Dining Room for its reputation, and we were not disappointed. We had a lovely evening on a Saturday, enjoying the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairings. The dishes were delicious, varied, and beautifully cooked. The staff did a great job explaining the dishes without being overly dramatic. The menu changes regularly, but during our visit, we enjoyed dishes like mackerel with gooseberry sorbet, cheese empanada, monkfish with tomato and peas, lamb with hasselback potatoes, and a refreshing sorbet. The quality of cooking was impressive and compared well with other upscale restaurants offering tasting menus. The portion sizes were generous, and the wine pairings complemented the dishes perfectly. The chef even came out to sing for us, which was a special touch. The total bill for three people, including wine pairings, was £220, which we felt was good value considering the quality of the food and service. We highly recommend The Dining Room for special occasions.
Innovative tasty cuisine at a level difficult to find locally, but to praise that make it easy to enjoy regularly. eating was simply super (7 curs tasting menu) and the matching wine flight was well chosen and interesting. also the service was great, and the evening was rounded off with the talents of jean (aka the singing chef) who entertained us with his excellent voice effortlessly after our meal. a good enough space to compete with the best, but very relaxed and excellent value for money.
Had my first brunch today in the dining room, blase and squeek, with poached ei and
First time for us with the small plates menu on Saturday and we LOVED it. Although two of my choices on the menu werent available, there was still plenty to choose from without feeling they were a second choice... Lovely ambience, fantastic service and the wine was spot on. Although we were first in it was great we weren't rushed (so had another bottle of wine and were the last to leave. Thank you, we will be back (as long as you get a bottle of Grand Marnier in
