Agua Cafe - Wycombe

We ordered two afternoon teas and a pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza arrived with burnt edges. The afternoon tea was supposed to include sandwiches, scones, and pastries, but what was brought to us was two inedible scones, a carrot cake with frozen topping, a warm scone placed next to a chocolate macaron resulting in melting, and a selection of sponge cakes. Additionally, there was no cutlery, side plates, or napkins provided, and we had to make a special request for these items. When we inquired about the missing items, we were told that they were not provided because we had sat in the wrong place, which seemed odd to us. After some back and forth, we were eventually offered a reduction on the bill. As we were leaving, a member of staff tried to explain and justify the poor experience to us, but was joined by a manager who was quite rude and even threatened to involve the police and cancel our membership of over 15 years. We were taken aback by this reaction as we had simply tried to point out the subpar customer service and quality of food, especially considering the high prices. We believe that it is unacceptable for a chef to allow burnt dishes to be served and for an establishment to rely on customer complaints to improve their standards. We would advise looking elsewhere if you are in search of a proper afternoon tea experience.

I had lunch at this restaurant last week, and visit a few times a year. I must say, there have been some improvements. It used to resemble an airport departure terminal, but they have changed the furniture and layout to provide more variety, which is a huge improvement. During my last visit a couple of months ago, our Pepsi drinks were flat and our server was hesitant to believe us; however, we experienced much better service this time and I am happy to report that the Pepsi was fizzy! I enjoy the spacious, bright Conservatory area for social distancing, but I noticed they have also added a table area in the main restaurant with plug sockets, which seemed quite popular for those working when I was there. My dining companions' burgers looked delicious, but my Mac n' Cheese, while tasty, was disappointingly small and only a starter size. Nonetheless, it seems like this restaurant is on an upwards trajectory, which is great news.

The service at this restaurant was terrible. The food was fine. We chose this place for a birthday celebration but were treated like a bother by the staff. They forgot our drinks, gave us butter knives for our steaks, didn't clear our table, and failed to bring sauces when requested. The staff member in charge was unpleasant and lacked any customer service skills.

Enjoyed a few local ales overlooking the lake and Simon the Barman was excellent friendly, knowledgable, attentive and kindly lent me his pen!

The accommodations were impressive! Service was fast, staff was friendly, clean clean clean, good selection of food, well stocked bar and knowledgeable bartenders, like Simon, who tended me several times. Hope to come back!
