Glacier Bear Lodge - Yakutat

Great people, great times! River fishing with Matt, sea fishing with Capt. Bill. This is how to do it! The packages are fairly priced, but the memories are priceless!

Accommodations are low on amenities and polish, but off the scale in serenity, local flavor, and service for visiting sport fishermen. The staff was local and real and always friendly. The dinners options are excellent, and the bar was a good spot to grab a couple local drafts after a long day on the water. With the package deal, they also take care of fileting, freezing, and boxing your catch for the flight home- a smooth running operation. If you're serious about leaving your routine life behind, and enjoying a true getaway, this is a gem. No wi-if or tv's in the rooms, no cell coverage (at least not on Verizon), and only a week signal in the main building, but the feeling was solitude, not isolation since you're surrounded by others out for a good wilderness experience. Loved it and hope to be back soon.

An incredible experience in Alaska! The fishing here is top-notch. I visited during the coho salmon run, and it felt like there was an endless supply of fish returning to the local rivers. The food was fantastic, and Adrianna's daily specials were truly outstanding. I took my catch to Cody and Ryan for filleting, and when I saw them again, my fish was vacuum-sealed and ready to go home. I will never miss a chance to return!

I first visited GBL in the early 1980s, and the Situk offers a top-notch experience! Thank you to everyone for the wonderful memories.
