We tried it for the first time tonight and holy cow! The catfish is u lick any you will find in Lincoln. The ribs were excellent and the hot link was hot in all the right ways and the collard greens made me want a gallon more. Tell friends, tell family and support the fine folks!
Mary Ellen's is the best soul food in Lincoln. Catfish is perfection. Collards ditto. I myself didn't care for the honey butter wings, but everything else has been great.
Food took quite awhile (about 25 minutes) Mac and cheese was basically just noodles (was hoping for creamy cheese and was highly disappointed) Smothered potatoes were decent (but a little on the greasy side) Fried chicken was decent (the breading was average. My opinion?go across the street to Famous Dave?s.
We tried the Cajun Honey Wings, Hot Buttered Wings, Brussels Sprouts and Mac N Cheese. The Cajun Honey Wings are amazing! Brussels Sprouts had a nice roasted sweet flavor and the Hot Buttered Wings are a good spice level. We will definitely be back for more!
Everything was delicious, but I tend to judge places off of their coleslaw which so many places can't do well. Hands down, best coleslaw I've ever had came from Mary Ellen's.
