La Muyuna had only a few flavors with local ingredients, but this place had much more, and the flavors were also exotic for non-Ausländer. Apart from local fruits (they let the flavors try, so you can choose) there are some even more unusual, such as Aji (hot pepper), avocado, and Masato (normally a slightly alcoholic beverage formed form fermented Yucca). Prices are reasonable: S/6.50 for two large blades (a little less than 2 dollars). We went there 3 times in 4 days and tried some 10 different flavors. Half a block from the central plaza. Perfect in a hot afternoon.
Local fresh tropical fruits are used (and also traditional flavors). Chocolate and coffee are WOW! But it was the passion fruit that blown my mind! The servers are not shy with samples to help you make your mind. Our second visit to the Ice Cream Chef Alejandro wanted us to try his new flavors and we were thrilled by his enthusiasm for all good things ice cream!!!
