Additionally, the cafe hosts a variety of events to suit every taste. I highly recommend it. However, I believe that a mere 100 words cannot fully capture the essence of this cafe and its overall charm. It truly is a unique establishment. As you approach the cafe, you are immediately struck by its chic and inviting ambiance. An assortment of cakes and pastries adorns the counter, while the aroma of coffee and freshly prepared food wafts through the air. Whether you opt for self-service breakfast or table service for lunch or events, the cafe's attentive team is always on hand to ensure your satisfaction. Special recognition must be given to both Flic and Julie, who demonstrate a true passion for excellent service, creating a top-notch dining experience. During my visits, I have sampled a variety of dishes, from a simple cake and coffee to a hearty breakfast and evening meals. The portions are generous, and the flavors are delightful. I must say, the wedges are particularly exceptional! When it comes to drinks, I always choose the cappuccino, which never fails to impress with its perfect blend of coffee and frothy milk. The cafe also hosts a wide range of events, such as Gin Jazz nights, which I would attend more frequently if my schedule allowed. I have enjoyed numerous intimate gigs with local band Velvet Thunder, who are well on their way to achieving local cult status. These events always promise a memorable evening, complete with themed cocktails and plenty of dancing space. Before I conclude, I want to express my gratitude to the team for making my daughter's 5th birthday celebration truly special. Their attention to detail exceeded my expectations, particularly during the dress-up afternoon tea. In closing, if you have read this review and are still contemplating a visit to the cafe, I urge you to stop hesitating and make your way there to experience all that it has to offer and more!
Wow!! The breakfast at this restaurant is amazing!! We had a very satisfying Full English Breakfast and Eggs Benedict on gluten-free toast. It surpasses all other local competition. The staff is lovely and the atmosphere is great. We absolutely love this place! It is the best attraction in Yeovil. We even returned later in the day for coffee and cake, and the Parsnip and Pecan cake was delicious! Who would have thought?
Unfortunately, our experience at the restaurant was not as good as we had hoped, despite the lovely breakfast. The front of house staff took our drinks order quickly, but then seemed to forget about us for a long time. We tried to order at the counter and even let the waiting staff know we were ready, but we were ignored until another staff member finally gave us a lunch menu. When the management found out, they apologized and blamed it on us being 'hidden' in a corner and said it was a training issue. The customer service was lacking, and even when our food arrived, our request for sauces was initially ignored. However, the full English and classic breakfast were nicely presented, tasty, and hot. The bacon was a bit overcooked for my taste, but still edible. The total cost for two people was just over £40, which is not expensive but also not the cheapest. Overall, there are other similar restaurants nearby that may be a better option without these challenges.
This is my third time for an afternoon tea! First time was with American family, who were totally very impressed! The sandwiches were freshly made with crusts cut out (eggs and cress, carrot and houmous, tuna and cucumber, bacon and tomatoes), quiche, sausage rolls, homemade cakes (chocolate brownies, sponge with lemon curd, homemade fruit tart fresh fruits) and scones with clotted cream and jam. We were very lucky to get in without a booking, especially when we arrived about 1.30pm. Booking is recommended especially if you’re after an afternoon tea. The second time was for a friend’s 60th birthday. Having arrived at 3.30pm, we were told that we were too late for an afternoon tea, but could have a tea and cream tea. We tried some of their cakes too. The lemon cake was light and delicious. The Earl Grey cake was a bit bland. The third time was with French family, who declared it was a perfect occasion their first British afternoon tea. They loved the beautifully decorated and quirky room. The staff was super helpful and polite nothing was too much trouble. We were made very welcome! Once again freshly made sandwiches, quiche, cakes and scones. All in all, we loved every moment and will be back again. The Emporium downstairs is a very interesting experience too, should you look for an unusual present.
What a lovely Afternoon Tea it was. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was delicious and very fresh. Couldn’t eat it all, so was given a doggy to take home what was left. Would recommend to anyone wanting an afternoon tea. Looking forward to trying the cheese afternoon tea.
