The restaurant has a chic interior with a main focus on counter seating, giving it a luxurious feel. We opted for the lunch set, which included three varieties of curry, two of which were vegan. We chose the "Cashew and Seasonal Vegetable Tamarind Curry," which came with two appetizers, soup, and dessert for a total of ¥2420 including tax. Although a bit pricier, we were pleased to find that the staff offered us a vegan dessert not listed on the menu - cashew fudge. The main dish could be paired with either chapati or Kerala rice, which had a unique texture that we had never experienced before. We also enjoyed a delicious soy milk chai with ginger. With limited high-quality South Indian restaurants in the area, we highly recommend trying out Indu if you have the chance!
The food was delicious, and the staff was very attentive and welcoming. They also had a wide variety of Indian wines and beers to choose from.
Last month, we visited Indu, a South Indian Ayurvedic restaurant, located not far from Motomachi-Chukagai railway station in Yokohama. The restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian options, many of which are actually vegan. Despite its small size, the restaurant is cozy with only two tables that can seat four and ten people respectively. The owner and chef were welcoming and happy to explain the menu in both English and Japanese. We opted for the cheapest lunch set, which included three appetizers, a curry, tea, and dessert. Each dish was carefully prepared using high-quality ingredients. Although there were no vegan desserts on the menu, the owner kindly offered us some kaju katli (cashew fudge) along with a refreshing cup of soy milk chai as a delightful way to end our meal. Priced at 2200 yen (before tax), this meal was slightly more expensive than the average lunch but well worth the experience.
I really enjoyed the dal curry, it was delicious. It wasn't very spicy, which is my preference. However, the beetroot soup needed more salt and had too much pepper. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. (Updated from previous review dated 5/20/2023)
