Twice per trip...although I did eat at the other nearby hippo spot one night because this shop was closed. Great udon in many forms. I recommend it to all the chaperones in our party each trip. Back again in 2019 and it made the long trek to Japan worth it. Ate here first night and it was truly comfort food. Brought a new person with who thought it was the best Udon ever. Still love this place. Back again in 2023 and was able to eat here on my first night. I always worry that I remember this as being better than it really was, but it was perfect yet again. I brought two folks with me who had never been (one is my eldest child and the other is a local), and both were very impressed with the experience as well. I will be returning before leaving country for my favorite udon. Now, they just need to let tourists like me purchase a couple of bowls so that at home I can experience that little hippo smiling back at me as I finish my udon!
Very good noodles! Staff was nice. Very friendly place.
Been a lot of places this one is at the top with an unnamed local fare restraunt in an old house in Napoli, a small flat bread stand in Bahrain, a tiny Marsala place on Long Island and an small Gyro shop in Baltimore. My genuine appreciation to the chef and his family. The food, environment and staff were excellent three meals in row! Great breadth of oudon selection and rich flavors at a very reasonable price. Spicy oudon comes in 6 levels of heat with number 1 being good for those who like a little bite and my personal max at number 4 balancing heat without taking away flavor (will try six some day! . The number 2 special offers a hearty classic oudon and mixed tempura selection. Best part is a well placed heart in the bowls which uncovers itself and smiles to you as you finish your meal. And homemade ice cream bars in local and classic flavors top off a happy and content dining experience. :
Interesting, little udon place that offers many different types of udon with different options of thickness and quantity for your meal. Expect to wait in-line for a bit, as this place is a little popular.
I visit Yokohama every three years. The curry udon is outstanding.
