Byron High Ousegate - York

Great food and staff. Very tired decor and freezing! Put a door on the cellar to stop the bin smell. End wall has paint falling of it. Bench seating huge holes in it! Not great for a world heritage city! C’mon Byron, spend something on decor and cleaning!

Excellent food, delicious burgers and chips, everyone enjoyed, service was quick. Will be going back. Good value.

Early lunchtime stop. We thought Byron had gone busy but they clearly haven’t! We all enjoyed our burgers- the vegan one was really good. The chicken strips we’re deliciously juicy and it was all freshly cooked. Would definitely come back.

It was a frigid day in York and I was starving. There are some days when ONLY a burger will do on those days go to Byron. They’ll take good care of you. A lovely waitress called Maria greeted and seated us and got the drinks and menus sorted. I chose an IPA beer that was as tutti and fruity as me on a weekend! What a perfect way to start lunch. I chose the double bacon cheese with regular fries and it was sublime. My partner in crime chose a vegan option and sang its praises too. I would confidently take Jules from Pulp Fiction here, confident that he would announce “mmm mmmm. That is a tasty burger!”. These guys run circles around Big Kahuna Burgers IMO. Not a cheap gig by any means but buy nice or buy twice. Well worth the money for a superb dining experience.

Amazing! Disregard previous reviews...we have been coming here for years and have never had a negative experience. If you're looking for a Big Mac style burger, this is not the place for you!!! Thankfully, they serve delicious burgers made with real meat, fresh salad, piping hot fries, and provide friendly service. Keep up the great work...we'll definitely be returning soon. Cheers!
