Guo's Imperial Gourment - York

This restaurant has had its share of ups and downs over the years, but it always manages to come out on top! I've been visiting for about 20 years, ever since I was a kid. No matter how many new places open, I always come back here for the buffet! It may not be massive, but there’s something for everyone. My personal favorites are the Coconut Walnut Shrimp, Black Pepper Chicken, and the Dumplings—they're fantastic! I've never gotten sick from eating here (unlike at York Buffet or the one on Route 30), and the staff is always very friendly. They offer a lovely selection of desserts, including ice cream, cheesecake, flan, and pudding, plus they provide takeout boxes for the buffet! The prices are very reasonable, and everything is delicious!

This is a budget-friendly Chinese buffet run by a local family. It's a great spot for families, with a welcoming atmosphere and quick, friendly service. My son loves their egg drop soup and says it's the best he's ever had!

Fortunately, when I came back, the food had noticeably improved! My only minor complaint was that the wasabi wasn't fresh—it lacked the strong kick that fresh wasabi usually has. Overall, though, the food was much better this time, and I’m glad to see the improvement!

The restaurant offered a standard selection of Asian buffet dishes, which was what I anticipated. However, there didn't appear to be any distinctive chef specialties on the menu. I also noticed that there were no beef options available during my visit. The crispy fried meats, like General Tso's chicken and pepper chicken, were either overcooked or had been sitting under heat lamps for too long. They ended up being hard, greasy pieces of breading with almost no visible meat. I think it's time for the restaurant to reassess their offerings.

I'm only reviewing the take-out option. Every time I order, the food is fresh, packed with flavor, and they can pretty much customize anything you want. The lady at the front who manages the hosting is incredibly nice and accommodating. I really like this place and would definitely recommend their take-out or delivery service.
