I would give them a 5-star rating, but they do serve meat, so I reserve that last star for fully vegan/vegetarian spots. Fortunately, they offer a variety of vegan options that go beyond just token items. The menu changes regularly, but I have enjoyed their vegan pad thai, vegetables, ginger tofu, a spicy spaghetti dish with veggies, and a "chicken" made from dried bean curd or tofu skin. The owners are friendly and enjoy sharing stories about their recipes and ingredients. They even showed me the vegan fish sauce they use and are happy to discuss any questions about their sauces and dishes. In my opinion, this is the best spot for healthy and wholesome vegan options in York Central Market. It ranks among the best Thai restaurants I have tried anywhere.
Everything was so fresh and tasty, and prepared with such care. Don’t forget to try the ice cream it’s DELICIOUS!
This restaurant is cozy and intimate, with a talented chef running the show. The food is absolutely delicious - we tried the panang curry, yellow curry, fried rice, spring rolls, and charcoal coconut ice cream. The chef clearly cares about her creations and takes the time to interact with her customers, sharing interesting information about the dishes. She is knowledgeable about vegan cuisine and cooks it exceptionally well. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends when the small dining room fills up quickly. The wait for food can be lengthy due to everything being cooked fresh from scratch, but the quality makes it worth it. Even the spring rolls are made to order and extremely fresh. Don't let the wait times deter you - simply relax, enjoy the experience, and savor the delicious food that awaits you.
Very tasty curry options! Supposedly dining in requires a reservation, but we didn't know that until we got there. They still served us anyway.
Little Elephant Thai offers a variety of vegan options and the staff is extremely helpful when it comes to ordering. They are friendly and willing to inform you about which dishes can be made vegan. The papaya salad was outstanding, and the fried tofu was delicious. Our main dishes were excellent, filled with plenty of vegetables and tofu. They also offer vegan desserts such as coconut ice cream and custard. The restaurant has a charming interior with traditional seating as well as unique seating options like old-school sofas and lounge chairs. We wish we lived closer to this place because we absolutely love it! (Updated from previous review on 2020-11-13)
