Magic Wok Cantonese Cuisine - York

Have visited the Magic Wok many times over the last almost 20 years. This time I was a bit disappointed particularly in the service. We had reservation for 7:30 p.m. but did not get are appetizers until close to 8:30. The rest of the meal was also painfully slow coming one dish at a time.Although the food was okay I don't believe it was up to the previous quality that we used to get. However it's possible that the very slow service impacted my opinion.Although I will likely return to give them another chance it will be a while.

Magic Wok is one of my favorite restaurant when visiting my family members in Markham. Magic Wok provides traditional carton food which are delicious and tasty. Many varieties and at reasonable prices. I especially like lobster there. If they can use less oil when cooking will be perfect.

We used to love going here all the time. Only open for dinner. No reservation unless you are someone important, they just hang up on you. Usually line ups at popular times. we love the hot and sour soup, shrimp fried rice, and usually look around at what other people are eating and aske the waitress to bring us one of those dishes. Beef with black bean sauce, lobster with ginger and green onion. Yum!>

We have been going to magic wok since it opened in 1984. Their signature dishes have tasted the same since the restaurant opened and still as good as ever! The seafood dishes are insanely delicious. Just cannot say enough good things about magic wok. One of its kind in the Cantonese cuisine!

Alert! Alert! Alert! Going downhill. Coming down. Fast or slow but it's downward. Did they change the chef? A typical dinner used to be at least two hours long due to the slow kitchen. It was so fast this time. Unbelievable. However, the overall tastes and service felt different from our experience which was drawing us back. Service was noticeably poorer but it was the same servers. Something's up with this place. We found a very long strand of hair in a fish dish. We were not charged for it (the dish, that is) but would we return? Disappointing. We used to be regular patrons too.
