I don´t mind that it´s expensive it is zermatt But the totally uninterested staff, the poor quality of coocking steak was a joke .It is not often Im have left a review this negative but unfortunately they deserve it- never again!!
Went there today and they refused to serve us a drink of water. Apparently you must be a guest to enjoy the restaurant. I actually think it had to do with the fact we arrived minutes before closing and the waiting staff didn't want...to bother. Disappointing.
After Gault&Millau had hyped the Riffelhaus in its recent report of the best restaurants on the slopes of Zermatt, we went for lunch today. We had better not! The restaurant offers an impressive view on the surrounding mountains, seating is comfortably spacious. Service was...poor to say the least. Brought our wine to the wrong table, did not refill the glasses, made a very unorganised impression. The salad as a starter was very good. The Cordon Bleu however was a huge disappointment. Whether a Cordon Bleu needs a heavy sauce to go with is debatable (we think it is a no go) but the portion was ridiculously tiny. Three bites at most. At CHF for a Cordon Bleu from pork meat one may certainly expect more. The parsley potato salad as a side was not more than steamed potato with some vinegar. No reaction from the staff to our complaints but a long wait for the check on top. We will certainly never go back. Whether Gault&Millau is actually visiting the places they promote is everyones guess. PS: to be fair: the Quiche and Tarte flambee they brought to the other table looked delicious.
The restaurant is super nice you will have a stunning view on the Matherhorn and the waitress are super helpful and will do whatever it takes to make sure you enjoy. The food choice are great and tasty so do not hesitate and enjoy the...Riffelhaus
