Rothorn Pizzeria - Zermatt

The food was good although the prices were as high as the Swiss Alps. It was also a bit sad to see empty reserved tables and people looking for a table being turned down. Waiting staff were amazing and understanding but it seemed like table management could do a bit better, sorry Guido.

Zermatt is the ultimate proof that just because you're on the slopes doesn't mean you always have to eat poorly. Among the many top-notch options in the ski area, it would be a mistake to forget the Rothorn restaurant. Here, pizza reigns supreme and they are truly five-star worthy. The service is friendly and the view is magnificent. A great alternative if Vrony and the like are fully booked or simply if you crave for a delicious pizza.

I know that Switzerland is expensive, extremely expensive. Even so, I didn’t want to spend a fortune on something worth half the price. BUT I did have the Äpfelkuchen (apple tart) as the kind waitress suggested. It was good. I realize one is also paying for everything to be brought up to the top of the mountain, but for me, the level of decadence (that I was a part of) was rather disconcerting.
