When I saw the name of this place, I assumed it was a typical food stand on a street like you see all over Mexico and much of the world, except vegan. It is not. Rather it is a structure in a outdoor open air food court of about 15 different places. The food is really thoughtfully prepared. I got the five taco plate for 75 pesos great value, omg! I asked the woman in the kitchen to make a mix of the different kind of tacos she had. All tasty. The tacos were also made with blue corn ¡que rico! Plus a lemon ginger elixir drink that is super healthy and tasty. Another night I got the 'chicken ' burger incredible good taste. Plus the spirulina lemonade. Also great. If you are with non vegans who don 't want to eat vegan, because it is in a food court, you can come and they can get something else and you can all sit together outside on the nice stained wood picnic tables. Also there are a few places with beer and/or cocktails, in case you want alcohol with your meal. It is an amazing place with enough variety that you can come a few different times and try different things. A truly great resource. One thing, sometimes there is music, which is good music, except if you were coming to talk with friends, because you won 't be able to hear them. Asi son las cosas de la vida. La raiz de la tierra is one of many kiosks in the mercadito zanka. (zanka is a local slang word for friends there are many other possibilities for everyone. before this visit I had always glued with the tacos that are remarkable. the other options are burgers with which I really never liked to start so much. However, this visit I tried the pollo crujiente, the fried chickenburger. it's been. the French fries and salsa/ketchup were the highlights of the meal to be honest. Unfortunately, there was not enough of everyone. the burger himself was admirable, but again I am not a Burger fan, so please note. their kilometers can vary. this was a Saturday night and there was a great salsa/Cumbia band. many natives came up and danced. muy divertido! a lot of fun! if in zihua, vegan should put la raiz de la tierra on their agenda. they have another kiosk in ixtapa, the sister city that the resort city is about 5 miles north.
La Raiz de la Tierra is one of many kiosks in the Mercadito Zanka. (To the best of my knowledge, Zanka is a local slang word for friend. There are plenty of other options for everyone. Before this visit, I had always stuck with the tacos which are noteworthy. The other options are burgers which I have really never liked that much to begin with. However, this visit I tried the Pollo Crujiente, the fried chicken burger. It 's seitan. The French fries and salsa/ketchup were the highlights of the meal, to be honest. Sadly, there were not enough of each. The burger itself was admirable, but again, I am not a burger fan so please take note. Your mileage may vary.
