For a very acceptable price you can choose between a bento box that consists sushi/sashimi and a hot dish with miso...soup you also can have a sushi plate only, awesome noodle soups and hot dishes. Here I also have to say, that the restaurant definitely does not cheat on sushi/sashimi! as you know, many restaurants try to include into half of the menu either cucumber or egg sushi which I personally consider as cheating and think do not belong on a plate that is not veggi . The quality of the food has 10* quality! I don 't know, where the owner gets his fish from...but I have not had in entire Zurich any fresher! Last time I have been there for dinner- and again- the service was outstanding and the sushi/sashimi plate fabulous. The establishment also offers a variety of very good cold Sake, which makes a Japanese evening just perfect. I have been several times in Japan myself. I would highly recommend the Maki Haus to everyone, who loves authentic cuisine and outstanding quality. I did recommend this restaurant to several colleagues and friends, who now constantly go there. There is no Japanese restaurant that could be comparable to the Maki Haus in terms of food quality.
Food was pretty good, but today serving just good food is not enough. Service is really not good. I mean, really not good. When the waitress is arguing with you whether the food is spicy or not, then you know there is a problem. It...is a matter of taste, right? Bill was also incorrect. And no thank you for the patronage at the end. This explains why the restaurant was empty, only two other tables were taken. Nothing more to be said.
I had ramen in a couple of restaurant in Switzerland, but this one actually reminded me of the ramen I ate in Japan.
Stayed at a nearby hotel and decided to give this restaurant a try. The food was not bad but I’m a spoiled Californian, where good Japanese restaurants are abundant, so I found it underwhelming. The service was very courteous and the price was on par...with the rest of Zurich, which means overly priced.
From sushi to tempura, everything is of the highest quality. One of the best japanese restaurant in town. Prices are OK. Two small observations: the place lacks a bit of atmosphere, soul, charm, music etc. service has to improve So all in all,...go for the food! It's still a bit undiscovered so it's possible to get a table last minute.
