The first time in the crown. Beautiful pub tariff without precedence. It was a good hangout that would be popular with the Fringe crowd. Will be back.
Lovey Old Pub. The young girl who served the name I forgot was just beautiful. Really sweet young girls, the excellent service and was extremely friendly. The food was sensational. A beautiful day out
The staff were excellent, and the service was great. I was disappointed that my experience was not as good as I hoped it would be as I found the food was well below par. I ordered the sirloin which was meant to be accompanied by baby roast potatoes cooked in duck fat. I believe the steak appeared to be cooked to perfection (didn 't get to try it), but it arrived on 'COLD ' potatoes (meant to be hot). Come on guys, the potatoes seemed as though they were old and left over from the day before, and unless its potato salad, potatoes are always meant to be piping hot! I was also miffed by the prawns in cream sauce that I ordered to have on my steak there were two measly small prawns in a small dish of cream sauce $12 wasted! I cannot understand how a chef can send below average food out to customers and keep his dignity. The wait staff, on the other hand were excellent and the person who served me was very 'on the ball ' and took my plate back to the kitchen for a second try. She also had the grace to offer me a drink on the house while I waited. My new plate of food arrived a little later and the potatoes were hot (still thoroughly overcooked), and the steak was excellent. Needless to say, I won 't be back, and I wouldn 't recommend the food (well not the dish I had). If you want to go for drinks, it is probably a great place to visit with friends. The ambience is very cool with great paintings decorating the walls in the dining room.
Waiting and bar staff were lovely. We ordered at 7.30 (kitchen closed at 8) and we got our entrees and mains within minutes of each other. It felt like the kitchen wanted to close and go home get the meals out quickly. Mains we 're disappointing lamb skewers came with minimal 'Fattoush salad ', more like a cheap garden salad cos lettuce, tomato wedges and 4 or 5 tiny pieces of pita. Super Salad was disappointing too included quinoa and 75% of the salad was this a salad bulked up to the max
