coffee by the beans - Lockleys

I first reviewed this gem in 2014. So I thought an update was worthwhile. I must say its not often you get to write two reviews 5 years apart but my interest in this place has not waned. Well it's still all about the coffee and it is still the best in town. And the love and passion for the beverage comes out in everything they do. Since the extension a couple of years ago there have been some steady changes for the better. In my last review I said the food was almost non existent. Bit by bit that is no longer the case. The food offering is still basic but delicious but now there is enough of it that I can happily come for breakfast or lunch and enjoy it. The other difference is that with a bit more space I now often come mid morning and get my laptop out and get a bit of work done in a really nice environment with a great coffee. In the end its still all about the coffee and its still great over the entire 5 years since my first review.

This is my all time favourite coffee shop in Adelaide. The coffee is so smooth. Vincent the owner is great and his staff are a credit to him. The service is fantastic and the coffee is always consistent regardless of who makes it. They offer phone orders to save time for your commute to work as they are so popular there can be a long wait. There is more than enough seating to dine in. My only regret is that I don’t work that way anymore but I will drive there every so often to satisfy my cravings. The prices are slightly more expensive than other shops but it’s worth it! Nothing else compares! They tick all the boxes. The staff also bring out a fresh bowl of water each time for dogs.

This restaurant has a loyal following of customers for good reason. The coffee is excellent, the snacks and meals are delicious, and they offer options for those with gluten and dairy sensitivities. The staff is welcoming and attentive, and the service is quick and efficient.

This is my “Go to” coffee joint in the west. The owner staff are always really inviting and friendly, and their coffee is so damn good.
