I have stayed at this hotel twice now and I highly recommend it. It is the second most affordable hotel in Adelaide, not including hostels. The only hotel on Bank Street that is $8 cheaper lacks the same level of quality and service.
Mid week lunch with a friend. Balcony was closed so we had lunch in the Marble bar. Very ordinary meal, even by pub standards. Fried and out of a packet. Drinks - over priced. Wouldn't waste my time and money going here again. I have no idea how this place stays open if this is the standard. Repeat customers must be few and far between.
This night was booked because it said it was renovated and for Qantas points. The room was not clean and not renovated. Please see pictures for mould and rust. At night there was a party going on down stairs which we could hear and kept us awake. The breakfast was nothing special and it was not worth the $200 I paid!!
This place has been here for ages. In fact back in the eighties it was one of Adelaide's premier nightspots, though these days that upstairs area is actually a restaurant (though they may still turn it into a nightclub on the weekends). I have to admit that I have spent countless number of Friday nights in the Marble Bar out the back, not that it is any good, but that my friends would regularly make the trek here. However when I came back here recently I was quite surprised to discover that they have opened up the back around and set up a pretty grungy (and rather trendy) area in the alleyway. Never seen an Alleyway beer garden before, so I have to admit that it definitely gives this place some character.
