Went a few days ago and although I had booked a table, they didn't have the booking fortunately they had a table... somehow. Eating was ok the packs were good, but a Haloumi salad was less than average and the coffee just ok. Service was a pass. Overall it was 6-7 out of 10. I never see the owner there, maybe he spends his time in Burnside, but must hold a more accurate watch on Halifax st
I was excited to visit this restaurant during my short stay in the city. The food did not disappoint, but the service was awful. Despite having a reservation, they seemed unorganized and offered us a table in the sun on a scorching 38-degree day. After declining that table, we were told to sit somewhere else and felt rushed. We requested water multiple times before actually receiving it along with our food. When we asked for a soft drink, it took a long time for it to arrive. When it was time to pay the bill, we discovered a cocktail that we did not order. Overall, the poor service experience has deterred me from returning to this restaurant in the future.
My experience at Burnside Café today was unfortunately disappointing. Despite having made a lunch reservation, the staff seemed confused about which table was ours, leaving us to stand around awkwardly. The music was so loud that it made conversation difficult. While the appetizers were decent, the portion of Pita bread was too small for the amount of dips provided. The lamb main dish was tasty, but the Fattoush had only three small pieces of Pita bread and was overly oily. We were unable to order coffee or dessert as the staff seemed too preoccupied to take our order. Ultimately, we decided to pay and eat elsewhere. Although the mezze Martini was enjoyable, we were left feeling disappointed in our overall experience at the café. It's a shame because we had high hopes for the place, but we won't be returning.
I had breakfast on a hot January morning and enjoyed the friendly service and the option to sit indoors or outdoors. The restaurant puts a middle eastern spin on breakfast and it was fantastic. I am looking forward to having dinner there again.
We have been here several times. We have tried many items on the menu, each one is a winner. So much flavour. Helpful and friendly staff. The dips, the pita, the meat.... you leave well fed and satisfied. Tip, order extra pita bread, you will...not regret it! It also pays to make a booking, they get pretty busy.
