General Havelock Hotel - Adelaide

Pretty happy with the old faithful Havvy. Wasn't too hungry so ordered a "light meal" of smoked salmon bruschetta featuring cucumber, dill, cream cheese, roquette and red onion. I picked off the red onion as I don't personally like it on food but the dish was delish! Finished it all despite not being overly hungry. Friends ordered the salt and pepper squid: big portion, couldn't finish It. Garlic prawns: fantastic but not enough sauce to eat it with the left over rice.

Excellent food for the expected meals at a pub. Great service, wonderful outdoor area. Went with the in laws, ordered big and varied. And they allow dogs.

Not sure why I forgot about the good old Havey! Was beautiful sitting outside in the sun enjoying a delicious lunch. The menu includes a large variety of choices and depending on the day, great special deals are offered. Definitely going back!

Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but I do love a good décor and definitely am a fan of fireplaces in pubs.This, has had me coming in for 2years, and yet each time I yearn for a kinder experience than what I received.I think the MAIN issue is staff. I really do not understand the absolute lack of interest, effort, clothing and care that the girls at the Havelock display. Every now and then I luck out and get a nice girl but for the most part, I have been upset with the treatment I receive.I am in my twenties, female, and of the same industry. It has genuinely hurt my feelings the way the girls disregard and/or speak rudely to me and whoever I bring with me. Last January one actually asked for my partners number while I was sitting at the table waiting for him to order. They are gorgeous girls, but it seems to me that they really are only there for the pay cheque and have no interest in the progression of their employers business.Last year I also brought a group of work friends and had a platter, and a cockroach ran up the table. We were very understanding (bugs do as they please, it probably couldn't be helped!) and yet one of the staff scolded us for not noticing it before it got to our plate. (no offer of help or anything, just a load of dirty stares from the waitresses).The menu is good, I like the fusion of different cultures, but I do find that it is very unreliable as to quality, which may need to be brought up with the chef.I think this establishment has SO much potential, just needs someone to really take in hand what their priorities are, and impart that in the staff.Would love to see this Pub lift standard and build a new and better reputation.Giving a rating of 3 in good faith!Good Luck!
