This is obviously their own version, lighter and tastier than what I've had before. The portion size was pretty generous, I could barely finish it. They have table service here which seems to be getting more rare these days in these type of venues. Would certainly return for something different.
8 dishes shared with 11 people. I'd highly recommend the Choy Pong Hai Scrambled Egg Whites Chinese Style. Efficient and attentive servers with complimentary watermelon served at the end of our meal. Great value for money if you're planning to eat out with a big group.
I can never thank my friend enough for recommending Hong Kee to me and my partner. Since we've discovered it, it has been our absolute favourite easy go to option for quick delicious Chinese (Hong Kong) meals. Their menus has been pretty much the same the whole time with occasional specials (although this tends to be the same as well) but hey, why fix something that isn't broken. If you find yourself in Hong Kee, definitely order their Duck! (either Peking duck if you wanted to treat yourself, or Roast duck) These are cook to near perfection with crispy skins and I have to say one of if not the best in Adelaide! Other notable dishes include their Choy Pong Hai, Steamed Barra and Shan Tung Pork Hock (previous special). The staff there are always friendly and service is almost always quick. Definitely recommended and I would say best Chinese food in Gouger! ????
We had lunch here today and were looking forward to the meal after reading the great reviews. Service was friendly and prompt however the food was very disappointing. The rice was served to the table in a microwave plastic rice cooker which we thought was a little casual... The Mapo tofu was very bland, we have tried this dish at many other places in Adelaide and it was definitely the worst we have had. Our favourite Chinese dish is dry chilli chicken which we were looking forward to comparing to others we have tried. Unfortunately the chicken was undercooked and very under seasoned. We told the lady and she quickly refried it and added more seasoning however it still lacked the heat and szechuan kick this dish usually has... There was also very little chicken in the serving size. We are not sure if we caught them on a bad day given the other great reviews however we will not be returning.
Scored a 4.5 because the restaurant needs an update - otherwise, we had our best food at this restaurant in our 5 nights stay in Adelaide. Food is not oily or salty & cooked with the fragrant taste of 'Wok Hei'!! Highly recommend for those who haven't venture just outside of the Chinatown precinct. Prices are very reasonable and serving size is good. Service with a smile from both the waitresses.
