I worked my way through the menu and loved the seasonal menu 's, although it was mildly devastating when the season ended and a new favorite disappeared. i haven 't been as regularly for the last 6 months or so due to saving for a holiday but decided to go today and have one of my old favorites the hola mexico. First disappointment was being told there is a 50 cent surcharge for avocado. This is a bit 'subway ' I mean its in the salad not as an extra and if you want to charge more, just put the price of the salad up by 50 cents. The salad itself was a touch disappointing as the dressing was very sour and vinegary. it used to have a lot more jalapeno flavour which was missing today. Maybe it was a bad batch but Jack 's if you have changed the recipe please change it back.
I truly love popping in to Jack Greens when I’m on my lunch break. <br/ <br/ It’s great for something convenient, quick and healthy. And I really love places that have menu items that change by season, you know that the freshness and quality of food is important to them. <br/ <br/ Definitely a must try. This place is delightful.
Fantastic range of salads and grain bowls. Locally roasted specialty coffee which was great!<br/ <br/ Fast and really friendly service! Very happy to recommend this place.
Having worked on Waymouth St I've traipsed up and down many a time, and during those traipsings I've thought so often: gee I really wanna try Jack Greens. Yesterday the stars aligned and I finally had opportunity to give it a go. First up the guy who served me, absolutely lovely. Great service, really enjoyed that (incl. asking my preference on dressing, would I like light, medium or heavy? Medium please) I chose the kimchi chicken salad bowl. I'll be honest and say it seemed expensive but actually for the volume of goodness in that bowl it's probably a pretty fair price. Generous with the chicken(important), generous with the avocado (doubly important) so that was fab. Kimchi was on the spicy end of the spectrum which meant I lost a bit of a chilli vinegar dressing flavour (i.e. couldn't really taste at all), but honestly as a whole I really enjoyed. Will definitely put it on my list of quick lunch grabs, and all the protein balls and smoothies in the fridge looked great too. Also points gained for food that FEELS good for me. Hashtag wholesome.
I decided to give this place a go after reading raving reviews, and I 'm so glad I did! <br/ <br/ Jack Greens has this fantastic online system that allows you to put through your order in advance and select a time you 'd like to pick up your order. You can pick a menu item, or customize your own salad; either way, your order will be packed and ready to go at the specified time.<br/ <br/ I went with the Fattoush Salad (roasted chicken, chopped cos lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, pomegranate, radish, pita chips sesame seeds hommus sumac dressing), which was a salad on their Seasonal (Autumn) Menu, except I substituted the cos lettuce for baby spinach and rocket, and removed the pita chips and added toasted almonds. The toasted almonds was definitely a good decision; it provided such a fantastic crunch to the salad, which was already packed with a whole range of textures from all the different ingredients. Everything in the salad was extremely fresh, and the dressing, which I selected to be 'light ' added the perfect amount of acidity and tang. The salad didn 't look that large, but there was a very generous amount of chicken chunks which made it a rather filling, balanced meal.<br/ <br/ I also tried a chia seed and cranberry biscuit. Biscuit is probably the wrong word, as it was essentially a soft oat cookie. Either way, I enjoyed it and from memory it was free from refined sugar, which is a plus. My only gripe is that it was rather oily. I left it sitting in the paper bag for a few hours before getting to it, and it had left this huge oily patch where the cookie was in contact with the bag.<br/ <br/ I can see why this place has received so much praise. The food consists of simple ingredients but is executed so well. Their online ordering system is very efficient and well suited to busy working individuals. The salad I had today was absolutely delicious, and I 'm already thinking about my order tomorrow.
