Odd. industrial meets Asian kitch decor. tick. paintlustre service. tick. dirty looks from other customers than we laughed. tick. interesting weinlist with not enough French options. tick. / but eating was very good. the tartaric acid had an asian slanted, which is strange because the place itself was billed as French. but the website is in Japanese and there are various nods to this kitchen. what didn't work for me. the brocollini with miso erdnussbutter was unusable. / the fois gras parfait was fortunately un-Assianed and thanked god. it was devine./ would I go back? not until I tried la provence and maybe not even. but worth a visit.
We chose this restaurant from the advert in the Adelaide Dining Magazine in our hotel room. Found the restaurant very dark! It was or easy to read the menu and it would be nice to see a little more of what's one is eating. Turning up the lights just a tad would be useful. The entrees were great -gougere and the tiger prawns. Mains were a tad over done - lamb loin chops were closer to well done than medium and the scotch fillet past rare as ordered. Our first glass of wine was empty as was our water for quite some time and at one stage two staff walked past us and back again not noticing. Had to ask for a refill as our mains were delivered! We were given a table with aluminum look cafe style chairs which were decidedly uncomfortable despite others being free. Desserts were great - brûlée and afogato. Would like to be more positive but felt somewhat let down.
Been a while since my husband and I last visited here. Found the lighting very harsh and hard on the eyes, needs to be softer. Found the staff very inexperienced. Came along too often to take our order when we weren't ready, especially when we had just sat down. When we were ready, took a while to get someones attention when they were standing around not doing anything. Also found that they tend to chat too much, had to ask for water in our glasses and then overflowing my husband's glass and not filling mine up.On a good note, the food was very good, generous portions and not over priced. That is why I gave them 4 stars.
A restaurant full of surprises - the atmosphere eclectic and interesting. Kim the owner delighted us with how they came to decorate and they got it exactly 100% right. They do every thing with a passion - food presentation and taste quite sensational.I loved the fact that the waiting staff were casual and not trying to be pretentious. This is a restaurant of food sensations, cocktails and wine - with guests just chilling out.You will be missing something if you don't go!
