I had so much food yesterday so I crave for something fresh today! And Vietnamese is definitely the one! It has quite a homy feel here at miss mai! And
I've been going to Miss Mai consistently for around 18 months now, initially at their James Place store and now at Gawler Place.TBH, I find them to be very hit and miss. If you manage to time your visit with when their meat is fresh and hot, it's very hard to fault. I'd like more pate on the Banh Mi to be more authentic but that's a minor criticism. The issue is when you don't time it well, like was my experience today. Cold roast pork isn't particularly appetising as the fat gets chewy and the crackling tastes like oil and loses its delicious crunch. I had it in the noodle bowl today and it meant everything was cold and just didn't quite hit the mark. To make it more frustrating, a fresh batch of pork meat had just been brought out and the guy in front of me was served the fresh stuff while the server I had gave me the rest of the old meat - we both paid the same price! Overall, a solid choice for lunch but could do with better quality control procedures.
A reliable pit spot for bang mi and Vietnamese salads. This city lunch spot gets busy so head out early for lunch if you can, to avoid needing to queue. If you do have to join the queue, be assured that the line moves quickly enough.
Love to eat their banh mi and salad bowl. Great flavor, roast pork and lemongrass chicken, highly recommended, good value and price!
