The dinning room is quite big and tables are spacious and well appointed. They also have a wonderful terrace for sunny days (not our case, as it was snowing) and the service is nice and professional. We noticed that the portions were huge, but luckily most of the dishes have a half version, which we ordered and were more than satisfied. My husband had the Käsereirösti and I had the daily special, and we found both to be tasty and correct. Needless to mention many of the dishes have local cheeses!!! Prices are affordable even for swiss standards (with half-portions we spent around 35 CHF for 2 including drinks).
We had a cheese foundu for lunch which was not bad, but very simple and really expensive. Staff avarage.
In our visit to Switzerland in August we got to tour this wonderful site. My mother in law was actually related (by marriage) to the gal who gave us our tour. I thought that watching Swiss Cheese being made might be as exciting as watching paint dry. Boy was I wrong! The Restaurant and cheese making facility are just a short trip Northwest from the city of Bern. It is WELL worth the trip to see this. Upon arriving there is a little shop that has pastries Danish, etc. . Very tasty and very good. There is a shop that helps with all things tourism, along with Swiss knives of course. The grounds have a building with many artifacts from cheese making hundreds of years ago. There is an individual cheese maker who actually shows you how cheese was made during the centuries before machinery and computers. All very worth while to see. We toured the new facilities and was shown Swiss Cheese as it was being made. Quite the tour and it really was interesting and informative. Our meal was a big pot of cheese fondue that hit it out of the park. We also had some Swiss wine that was delicious. If you are going from Zurich to Bern (or visa versa) it is a short trip out of your way. Well worth the time and expense. As an aside, my family is from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. A month before we had gotten there our star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had toured this facility. His family is from this area (as is my mother in law 's). Our tour guide Aika Aebi told a funny story about Ben. Evidently the staff still talks about that big American athlete , and the boo bo he did while here. Nothing bad, but it was funny (promised not to tell). The food was good, the beer was cold, the wine was great, and the tour was well worth the trip! Get there and enjoy!!
We visit this restaurant a few times a year, because her Rösti is really nice. Unfortunately, the portion sizes seem to be getting smaller and smaller
So many cheese dishes to choose from. Most tourists try the fondue, but we chose the dish of different cheeses, smoked meat and bread. A very filling lunch that can easily be shared with two people.
