This bar/cafe Bar 1er Consul (with a green awning) was about a block from where the bus tour started/ended. With outdoor tables and nearby the Napoleon lion statue end of Place Foch it was a good place to people watch and have a drink. We also had sandwiches made from really good crusty bread. I asked for mustard on my ham cheese sandwich and it was really good. We looked at other restaurants, but couldn't read the menus as only in French. There were more touristy pizza restaurants closer to the harbor as well. Service was good and our server spoke some English, but the person who delivered the food didn't. I wasn't getting anywhere asking for S P but luckily my husband knew the french words. Good ice cream too, although there is an ice cream place close by. Prices seemed reasonable.
Very good location for people watching but we had to wait a loooong time to be served, new customers being served before us. We finally asked the waiter to come and then he was nice and polite. We enjoyed the rest of our time here en even enjoyed the start of the parade in tribute to Napoleon’s imperial guards.
L'endroit parfait pour une soirée tranquille.................................................................
We are American citizens from Puerto Rico, who speak french and are very sympathetic with Corse people. This “chic” bar which is expensive is owned by a mister who grilled us because they didn’t accept the bank card, in this age where most of us pay with it. He only told us ay the end, when we were ready to leave. We tried to find solutions, the owner only gave us lessons about what is was to travel to the European union. He was very nice at first, then very mean when we tried to find solutions, like talking to some customers to see if we could give them more in dollars than we actually had to pay. We understand his point, but the condescending way in which he made us feel is no way to treat customers, and less tourists. I would only recommend to cash strapped people, and to those who have a masochist tendency.
Not a bad spot in the centre of town. Reasonable amount of seating. Toilet facilities aren’t very good. Prices are reasonable but not a big selection of items to order. Service was a little slow.
