I tried the $10 special featuring black bean sauce with vegetables (you can choose any veggie entree you like), and it was delicious. It came with a house salad and a drink of your choice. I highly recommend the iced chai tea; it's very enjoyable. Overall, everything was satisfying and really hit the spot.
A charming and straightforward restaurant. The food is not only healthy but also delicious, with generous portion sizes. The menu offers a wide variety of options. This is a vegetarian establishment that creatively incorporates substitutes for meat in some dishes. While not every dish features these substitutes, I've tried numerous items here and have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend any dish that includes eggplant. After your meal, you can easily pop across the street to the Alameda Marketplace, a delightful indoor mini-mall focused on natural foods, where you can explore the unique shops. I wholeheartedly recommend Central Vegetarian.
Wow, the food here is absolutely amazing! I enjoyed every single dish, all of which are vegan. Even our kids finished everything on their plates! The service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant had a clean and cozy atmosphere—more on the casual side rather than modern or pricey. I highly recommend it for excellent, healthy, and affordable Asian fusion cuisine. Plus, we were treated to a complimentary slice of chocolate cake, and it was simply divine. Thank you for that lovely gesture!
As I sit at the table during a peaceful moment, I want to express my appreciation for another culinary option near my home. The combo appetizers present a delightful variety of deep-fried bites accompanied by two different sauces. However, the spicy lemongrass chickyn didn't quite capture the taste of either Hunnybunny or me; I detected a flavor reminiscent of curry powder or something similar. Fortunately, our attentive server Joey, who is the owner's brother, noticed our reaction and graciously arranged for us to try a different dish. On a positive note, the lemon chickyn was absolutely fantastic, with pieces that were both juicy and crispy, making them a true delight. The sweet and sour chickyn was similar, featuring the classic sauce. We tried both brown and white rice, and both were perfectly fine. Overall, we are eager to return. (Sadly, it has since closed down.)
I stop by every time I'm in Alameda. They serve some of the best vegan food around, and the owners are incredibly friendly too.
