Went in for a distillery tour and got to learn a lot about the process and taste their various different vodkas. Absolutely enjoyed it
What an incredible experience! Pretty bittersweet since it was recently announced that this local distillery that hand bottles Vodka and one Brandy will be closing before the new year (less than a month away). I've always been a fan and so this has been on our list and was rescheduled, thankfully before it was too late. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative about the process and, of course, taught us how to sip and taste good spirits. Some of the small batch bottles can only be purchased in the bottle shop here so we tried to stock up as much as possible since it's very likely that some of them will no longer be produced. The thought of drinking vodka straight sounds awful, but not these! All were so delicious and the quality and craft of the distillers is evident. I'd say run over and support these locals and get in on a lil bit of nostalgia before it's too late.
They are closing their tasting room in Decmeber, so I had to stop by and give it a try with my partner. You can make reservations online, but we decided to walk in. They staff there was really nice, they squeezed us in for a flight tasting right before their cut off time of 6pm. We got one reserve vodka flight and one cocktail flight both were reasonably priced. I really loved the cocktails, especially the creamsicle one it tastes EXACTLY like an orange creamscile. My partner enjoyed the mint mojito cocktail more. Their vodkas were strong, but you can definitely taste the notes and hints of each distinctively. Each was explained to us carefully, including how to drink it and the order we should drink it in. Overall, pretty good experience and a great place to hang out with a group of friends. They have an outside seating area with amazing views of the waterfront and city at night!
We booked our tasting online and we all left super satisfied! Not only were we able to sample their wide array of vodkas, but they also educated us on what goes into making their vodkas and what sets Hangar 1 unique. It was a really fun experience and we left feeling super satisfied and with a bunch of knowledge about vodka. During our visit there was an event that they were preparing for so the bar wasn't open, but definitely would want to come again when it is open too and hopefully another tasting. I saw an article circulating around saying that they were set to close mid December 2022. Sad to see them go as they were a wonderful addition and provided such a great space for tasting and drinks. Definitely check them out while they're still open! You won't regret it.
