Last time I came I got the Prawn Pad Thai. It was smacking!!! This time I went, I got the Papaya Salad Lao style with pickled crab, medium spicy. It was spicy alright!!! Very salty and wayyy too spicy to enjoy. And I usually like spicy food. What I enjoyed the most is their selection of beer. I had the Sarap Calamansi Pilsner. My bf had the Mango Wheat. He said it paired very well with the spicy food he got. I don’t remember what he got, but he asked for the most spice. But he said it paired very well with the beer.
I ate a cricket! Taste was great but I couldn't get past feeling the legs in my mouth. Everyone else loved them. Everything else was really good too!Food: 5/5
Outstanding Thai food served in a colorful, friendly setting on the quiet side of Southshore shopping center. Parking is a breeze for families with kids. Service is fast, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food itself is amazing on every level. Fresh ingredients, with healthy options for all diets. I ordered the seafood noodle soup with spicy Thai sausage and fish cakes as my appetizer. The family ordered chicken wings and papaya salad with sides of rice for everyone, and strawberry creme sodas for my older boy and me. What a feast! Cost to feed the entire family was $130 and change, including a fairly extravagant dessert for mom's birthday. We highly recommend Monkey Thai for families who enjoy fine dining once in awhile but don't want to spend excessively. 5 stars across the board. We will definitely be coming back!Vegetarian options: So many vegetarian dishes!Parking: Very easy to park and walk with toddlers.
This is a solid Thai restaurant that my family has been going to for years at this location and at the other one on Main Street. Their Pad Thai is done right with the tofu cooked to a perfect texture. It's unfortunate when the tofu in Pad Thai is mushy on the outside and inside. In any case, we recently ordered the chicken crispy wontons, fried calamari appetizers with beef pad thai (my lil' one doesn't like shrimp which I love in pad thai) and papaya salad. All the dishes were 4 or 4.5 out of 5 except the papaya salad. I'm unsure how I feel about the papaya salad (maybe 3 out of 5) as I'm not accustomed to ordering this and it has quite a spicy kick although I ordered the mild version. Think it would be refreshing on a hot day. In any case, the bill came out to about $75 before tip, so not cheap eats but not so much that it prevents us coming semi-regularly. To be honest, Bhan Mae Vane is my favorite Thai (also Laotian) place but Monkey Thai is a more convenient choice when I want to just walk to a Thai place closer to home. In any case, I've ordered the basil beef or basil chicken numerous times at this location and that's a tasty dish too. It's quite spicy so let them know if you need to ease up on that.
