This is a great small Portuguese family restaurant. we had a great meal here, everything lovingly cooked. they don't speak English, but as they do, they come by. the inkfish is very good here, and every food we had was good. good choice. also wein. we would go back here definitiw when we were on the road.
This is not a tourist restaurant, more of a local family business. eating is what they expect from Portuguese cuisine, the roasted otopus is delicious, but so is their fish fillets and most of their dishes. I would not expect the staff to speak correctly and they are very friendly, and while the service is not slow from my experience, it is also not the fastest. I go there every time I come back to portugal and would certainly recommend it.
The receptionist in the hotel we recommended for lunch vila faia. the device there is nothing nice, but they certainly tried. the waiters had a broken English, but we ended up with the help of some locals in the next table, which also spoke English. the food was good and the portions on the big side. However, the service was slow again, we have spent 3 hours there just because that! overall I would recommend it if they are in the opposite and have some time to kill.
Great experience, full of locals. Food was good. Menu in English (you have to ask for it), and each dish comes with side dishes. We ordered using a variety of sign language and they were very accommodating. No nasty surprises with the bill.
