Vinny's On Windward - Alpharetta

We had not been here for several years and we thought we would come back. In the past, we found the food and service good, the wine list acceptable, and a well dressed upscale group of patrons. On this visit, we had great service (Michelle pulling double duty as our server and bartender). The menu had a nice variety (the calamari shortage continues); we started with the Carpaccio. For our entrees, she chose the chicken parm; I the lamb (medium rare). After studying the wine list through the appetizer, we were made aware that none of our choices were in stock and had not been for some time (very irritating). We settled on a replacement that was drinkable. The chicken arrived and it was a generous portion, but average in taste. My lamb arrived rare and received a return trip to the kitchen. On its return, the well travelled chop was very good We had hoped for a quieter environment for dinner given our reservation, but the crowd at the bar was loud and dressed for a beach barbeque (flip flops, tee shirts, cut-offs, caps on backwards). This atmosphere will make us think twice before returning for a dinner

They were out of the calamari appetizer so I ordered the octopus. It was served cold along with the artichoke app (barely warm). The risotto was good but they sold it as truffled. You could barely taste any black truffle or truffle oil. Overall I was very disappointed as this restaurant was always so good in the past. I will think twice before going again

We reserved outside seating which was great considering the crowd inside. The fresh bread was delicious. The lasagna was excellent. My special of the night was salmon, shrimp, mussels was bland. Two other friends had the same dish and liked it. Christine, our server, was Great

A quick pick restaurant turned into one of the most romantic dates I’ve ever taken my spouse on. Will absolutely be recommending Vinny’s
