Good food, great coffee, reasonable pricing, friendly owners, eclectic environment. The cafe has a souvenir shop attached to it. Place with the most reasonable pricing.
The MOST amazing mud crab Curry!!! as in, MOST ... have it. It's delicious. Service is easy but that because they make the food fresh!
The food here is simply amazing! The food needs to be prepared a little, but wow is really the best food we had in a 3 week tour about Sri Lanka! Wow!!!!!!!!!
We stumbled over this place while we walk around the galley old town and sat for an ice cream coffee and a juice when the rain really started pouring. It was honestly one of the most beautiful ice cream coffee I had (very fussy with my coffee) and my partner juice was so fresh and delicious! It was for this reason that we actually came back to dinner after we walked around for a few hours. To be honest, we are literally surviving from Google and travel advisor reviews, as we have been on the road for just over a year and Serendipity has not had the best online presence. Compared to the very nearby and easily accessible surrounding restaurants, it is on the ground in terms of rating (even if it is not atrocious). The thing is like a traveler or tourist who will help you on the best reviews with decision making... ALWAYS! Needless to say the impromptu coffee and juice earlier brought us back, and the special of tuna steak and my Calamari with Veg was absolutely delicious! We could not understand the evaluation so questioned and find out that it has changed management sometime last year, which is why the newer reviews are much better, but overall the older reviews bring it down. It probably takes a rebrand in all honesty because it is such a shame that the history of administration makes it inconspicuous for a tourist. The proof is in the pudding as we were the only guests there, both on the day and in the evening, when everything we consumed was so good and so cheap. Even portion size is amazing. There was a very strange thing in the place, though and this is the very huge and strangely placed dining table that takes quite a lot the entire interior. It didn't seem to fit into the place and also, we didn't really want to sit in it, especially because it was a palace size table and also because it really looks like it was breaking and causing a danger. The glass was warned and the wood is clearly eaten away, so it looked unsure. It's just weird. The 2 of us sat outside on the beautiful small terrace on an 8-seater. Would definately recommend giving this place a chance because the dishes and drinks were so good! It's a shame about the evaluation.
