It was a weekly date and the location made it special. Great ambiance. Reasonable prices for exceptionally made food. Fantastic carrot cake!!!! Are we going back? Yes! Only caveat: unless you valet, parking is a little complex. My husband doesn’t like using valet and we parked across the street (public parking). Crossing the street it’s a little scary. But, I enjoyed the Gandy Dancer so much, I can’t wait to return.
We met Kristina once in the restaurant to go over the event timetable. She offered valuable suggestions on how to adjust the schedule to ensure everything flowed smoothly, and her ideas were fabulous. We kept in constant contact via email, and whenever I had questions or wanted to make changes, she was quick to take note. On the day of the party, my partner and I arrived about 15 minutes after it started, and I was thrilled to see that everything was running smoothly. After we were announced, a server approached me immediately and offered me a mimosa, which was delightful. I felt like I was in a movie; the staff was so attentive that I had nothing to worry about, allowing me to fully enjoy the celebration. The food and drinks were incredible. We decided on a brunch because I signed the contract for that before Gandy Dancer stopped offering it, and I was so relieved they honored it since I promised all my guests a brunch experience. Our guests had the option of a summer fruit waffle, lobster and brat omelet, or crab cake Benedict. For dessert, they could choose vanilla bean ice cream or handcrafted cheesecake. I think everyone loved the food—I know I certainly did! If I plan another anniversary celebration, I would love to return to the Gandy Dancer.
I decided to have my birthday dinner here and they gave me a customized menu and provided candles for the cake my friends got me which was adorable. the restaurant is set up where the ann arbor train station used to be, ambiance was perfect, and service was exceptional! while all the dishes are great quality, some dishes lacked taste and did not blow my mind for the price. pictured: pan seared sea scallops: made perfectly, melts in your mouth, the rice was delicious too dynamite scallops ultimate seafood mixed trio lobster and shrimp stuffed salmon (not as good as I expected)
I had a wonderful lunch with a stunning view. I parked on High Street, but there are plenty of free and metered parking options available nearby. Although my son's birthday was three days ago, he still received a complimentary dessert with a candle, which was a nice touch. A manager unexpectedly stopped by during our visit, which I always find to be a classy gesture. My son and I were dressed in t-shirts and jeans, but we were treated just as well as anyone else. The restaurant is located in a building reminiscent of the Amtrak station in Ann Arbor from the 1980s, and while we were dining, a train passed by, adding to the experience.
Great location! Love the converted train station. The menu was fantastic as was the food. Normally this would be 5 stars but I pulled one because I got the distinct impression they were trying to juice the check as much as possible. Don't get me wrong, it's pricey but not too pricey but all the questions, follow-up, etc led that way. As far as the food goes we tried the scallop, shrimp, and brie appetizers. They were all good, though the Brie was a bit less salty than I'd prefer. For an entree I had the scallops which I thought were amazing. All in I'd go back for sure. Great experience overall
