Half Shell Dockside - Apalachicola

Our experience started out poorly and we almost left. We sat for quite a while and weren't getting service, so my husband got up to complain when the waitress came over and was SO apologetic and promised to take care of us right away. She even gave us free homemade cheesecake at the end at NO COST, to make up for it. We had the green tomatoes with remoulaude sauce as appetizers. DELICIOUS! And we had the grilled grouper as our entrée. My husband had the masked potatoes and mac n cheese for sides and I had green beans and cheese grits for sides. It was a HUGE portion of grouper and was cooked perfectly. The sides were yummy as well. Even though the service started out terrible, the food was worth the wait! Delicious!!!

First-timers here for drinks and dinner at the bar. Friendly, good service. Quality drinks and crafts on tap (big fans of the local Oyster City brews). We ordered oysters, 1/2 shell, raw and they were excellent, good size. After, I got fried oysters with potato salad and fried okra. My wife had fried shrimp with collards. All was perfectly prepared and delicious. We loved the setting on the marina with shrimp boats and pelicans passing. We left as folks were coming for Monday bingo. Wonderful place. You should go.

Atmosphere was great, service was great. For those aficionados of shrimp and grits, beware this dish is creole inspired, and there are lots of tomatoes, green peppers, and red peppers in the dish. It made it slightly runnier than I wanted, but the taste was uniquely different and pleasant. Banana pudding cheesecake was different in texture, but very tasty.

If you want a plate of food that will make you start shaking your head as soon as you take a bite contemplating if you wanna smack your mama it’s so good then come to half shell. I’ve been once a year the past two years and each year it gets better. The food is presented so beautifully and taste like a piece of heaven. Y’all don’t think twice you won’t be disappointed.

We ate an early dinner at the Half Shell Dockside restaurant. I got the blackened grouper sandwich and a order of cheese curds. The fish was fresh, and cooked to perfection. I definitely reccomend giving this place a try. The staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. Love the Dockside views, and they also have live music most nights.
