Not great, but much better than our previous experience. We started with the octopus, which was served in a wonderful tomato based sauce. The octopus was tender and flavorful, and a favorite of ours. My had an absolute wonderful price of halibut, served in their great tomato sauce with olives. The fish was perfectly prepared moist, tender and we'll seasoned. I had one of their strips it was well prepared, well seasoned and served with a nice pan sauce. The only issue I had with the steak was that it wasn't very tender, and it didn't have the fat rendered out well at all. The desert of bananas foster was very good. The place itself is lovely and intimate, but the service was slow and not very attentive. There were several times we were waiting on drink refills or food this is not a meal you should expect to be snappy. This was honestly between a 3.5 and 4, but it's a restaurant we will be back to try some more of their intriguing menu.
We went to the PAC for a show and stopped here with a reservation. Because of the show, we did have a specific time frame which we told the waitress. The service was incredibly slow and worse considering it was dead at 5 PM on Saturday. We had 3 steaks, which were $40 a plate, that had been cooked well done when all were ordered medium rare. I don't normally complain but at $40 a plate you should know what medium rare is on a tenderloin. With the timing we didn't want to wait for them to take forever again and remake the order. The waitress apologized and offered a discount. I agreed. When we recieved the bill no discount was given. I inquired and I was told I wouldn't receive one because we didn't let them remake it. I said this was very unfortunate. So they then offered to take two drinks of the bill. I agreed. She came back giving me only 1 drink removed. Just pathetic. Do yourself a favor and go to the Apollon. It's cheaper and better food and extremely well managed. I personally won't ever come back here again.
Great (and I'd happily return) but not amazing. The service was friendly and prompt though the restaurant wasn't too busy that evening. Cocktails were good if a little sweet. Had the curry mussels and goat cheese in tomatoes as appetizers and they were delicious. Tenderloins and strip steaks for entrees (au poivre, with porcinis, and with horseradish). I found nothing exceptional about any of the preparations, they seemed to add nothing. Overall, a good meal, but I felt it was more expensive than it should be given the experience.
Absolutely love this place. Have dined here at least a dozen times. The old location seemed to be more intimate and I enjoyed that more. However, the quality of the food is still way above average. I've never really had a meal I did not thoroughly enjoy. Oysters, goat cheese, ceviche, feta cheese, all the apps are great. The tomahawk ribeye and the rack of lamb are very very good. Drinks are made with care and are always on point. I would give five stars, however, the most recent time I was there they were out of the ingredients for 2 of their 5 signature drinks as well as the featured entree I almost always get, the tomahawk ribeye. Great place and one of about 5 restaurants in the Appleton area that are worth going to.
One of my favourite restaurants. Great, made to order food with fresh ingredients. Like all restaurants with great ingredients it is pricier, but worth it. Great staff, great wine list and beautiful and classy atmosphere. There are very few high scale restaurants in Appleton. If you want a great meal and hate chain restaurants, this is where you should go for steak or fresh fish. They have tasty appetizers and desserts too. So go hungry.
