The last time we were there we watched the owner make poncho from scratch. It's an elaborate process and we got to have a taste; fruity and very alcoholic! I would be happy to recommend this restaurant.
Recanto has a limited menu but what they have is very good food for extremely reasonable prices. They are a local place that welcomes the few tourists that make their way here. Arco da Calheta has few places to eat so this was a find as we are renting a house up the road. We stopped by here once for coffee and drinks and then came back for dinner. We were not disappointed either time.
Staying at a friends property in Arco De Calheta, went for a walk, this morning and came across this little snack bar called Recanto, situated on the side of a very busy road up into the hill, decided to stop for a coffee, really lovely to be greeted by a smile from the lady serving, saw a sandwich menu and ordered a omelette roll and coffee, not long to wait, well I thought I had died and gone to heaven, Recanto sits high up on the hill, overlooking Calheta. The Omelette was the tastiest, freshest and lightest I had ever tasted and cost just over a pound in English money, me and my partner , decided we would go back in the evening, we did this at about 19.30, a few locals in there, I ordered two large Lagers, and 3 separate meals, fried pork, Hamburger and Steak with chips, sitting outside and the smell of Garlic in the Air, 20 minutes later, we received our food, plenty full, very tasty, and of a good quality, this followed by 4 x coffees and 4 x chasers, with the bill costing no more than a main course with a drink in the UK, closed on Sunday's, so bread and cheese tonight, but we will be back there tomorrow for breakfast, then in the evening to try the Squid.I cannot recommend this cafe Bar enough, great service, great food, great views, great prices, if you are in the area, pop in and try them out.
We walked down to this café as it was local to us. Friendly barman and I ordered the octopus and my wife the frittata pork. Both meals were a good size but what surprised us that both dishes were served on a bed of chips. Not the best way to show off the beautiful octopus dish that's for sure.Cheap meal though and can't fault anything other than the lack of imagination on how to serve up a meal.
Nice place was passing with some friends and stop to have a drink nice and friendly staff saw the menu attractive didn't eat but saw some locals and tourists enjoying will come in a different day
