Lovely authentic restaurant. Chef was a great guy telling us a lot about Arequipa and the traditional food. We even had a look in the kitchen, which was very nice. The alpaca steak was heavenly. Easily the best meat I've ever had. It's not cheap, but well worth the money! Highly recommended.
It was an amazing experience to eat in this place, Walter is such a relative who supports all our questions and even shares tips from his kitchen with us. The food is absolutely delicious. We ate 5 dishes (the Alpaca, Cuy and Ceviche dishes, Chupe and Rocottos) and a dessert. He prepared the way people ate them before the Inka empire conquered in a beautiful rustic kitchen with reefs as in ancient times. I highly recommend tasting this restaurant when you visit Arequipa.
An amazing Peruvian experience. Powerful aromas and one of the most welcoming restaurants I've ever visited even got a tour through the kitchen to see how things are done. Would recommend the warm passion fruit and shrimp ceviche.
Quick Review: 1. Personalized and flawless service. 2. Incredibly delicious and especially UNIQUELY flavored food. 3. Walter is an incredibly hospitable owner (he will give you a tour through the kitchen before you eat and show you the ingredients he will use). More than anything, this is not a restaurant, because there is not only amazing food, but an amazing experience. Long version: If you are looking for a great view of the Plaza while you eat delicious food, you will not get what you are looking for by following the Jaladians in the Plaza to their half-baked pirates. However, you can get a great view, great food (unique food you won't get anywhere else in the world think), and beyond that a great experience. It's like a tour you could take to Colca Canyon, except your guide is boss Walter, and the experience is pre-incan food. Here he serves the origins of Ceviche, Lomo Saltado, Causa and the best Chicha I ever tasted. The flavors are so much more complex than any Peruvian food that you have tasted to date. And the prices are extremely reasonable for what you get and the experience that comes with it. When you come to Arequipa, and you're taking a culinary tour with Walter through the history and aromas of pre-incan food, were you really in Arequipa? Or did you just take photos for Instagram? You should eat in this restaurant, it is unforgettable.
