We chose the came hotel because it was close to where we wanted to be, and it was dog friendly. we go back because it's wonderful. great eating, friendly staff, beautiful rooms and intentional to die. could not recommend very enough.
I visited with 2 other friends for a meal. have mixed feelings about this place. The surroundings and decor were beautiful. The food was excellent, the waiting staff were very good and very friendly. The barman was very pleasant. That's the good points. £6.20 for a pint of Lager is just ridiculous. The food was a bit pricey too but it was good. The worst experience was the rather opinionated pushy Polish gentleman who insisted on buying us shots and wouldn't take no for an answer. He got very annoyed and the waitress had to apologise for him. From what she said it seemed like it wasn't the first time. Perhaps it was a one off but if it wasn't management need to sort that out. We would have stayed on after our meal for another drink but not with the atmosphere in the bar.
Amazing Restaurant at this lovely Hotel. Used one of their boat moorings and came ashore with our dog. Such friendly owners who gave us plenty of chat and very dog friendly. Restaurant lovely and what a view! Staff and service so polite and helpful. And then came the food. Absolutely delicious and great portions. Will be back!!
I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed the excellent Kames Hotel before. We first encountered it when we were house hunting in the area when we stayed in an fantastically comfortable room with views over the west Kyle, and had a sumptuous Scottish breakfast in the gorgeous dining room with the same view. The last time we visited was last night, and in the intervening two years we have paid numerous visits. You are assured of a very warm welcome in the Kames bar restaurant. The service is generous and friendly. The food is great, featuring excellent ingredients simply but expertly prepared, a good menu with something for everyone (including this fussy gluten free pescatarian! and a range of specials. Portions are generous, and there is a fabulous range of whiskies with which to finish your meal. Booking is advised, as they get busy with locals as well as visitors to the area. Highly recommended.
