Tenkin - Asahikawa

Large small izakaya really good local seafood and a great atmosphere and always busy

We searched for less tourist izakaya place in Asahikawa and stumbled on this. For such an empty night, where out as ghost town seems. It's just like that in Tenkin. Very crowded, but the service staff were prompt and friendly. At the price! The offer great value! Grilled meat is served and per two pieces price! Oyster are so cheap at ¥740 per two pieces! We loved the Negi toro maki, bread crumb asparagus and fresh sashimi

It's really a beautiful place! I ordered crabs, sea urchins, beef and shrimp. All are wonderful! The waiter is friendly. English is available!

The atmosphere at this izakaya is bustling! I’m grateful for the English menu, because the menu is large and offers so much variety. The food is hit-and-miss, but standouts include the Hokke (grilled miso-marinated mackerel) and Shake chanchan (salmon and vegetables cooked with miso). The most disappointing item was the Zangi (Hokkaido-style chicken karaage) which was soggy and quite flavourless. We booked and were glad we did, because they were turning people away due to being fully booked.

Solid izakaya fare. Don’t miss out on the asparagus and fried nankotsu.
