I visited the restaurant last Monday at 12 pm and found that it was nearly empty. There were only about 3 or 4 dishes available on the conveyor belt, which I thought was possibly due to the early hour. I decided to order off the menu and noticed that the chef was working alone and without a uniform. The meal that arrived was nothing special, and by 1:30 pm, there were still only 4 dishes on the train. It seems that the restaurant's quality has declined since the last time I visited.
A few years back, Sushi Train in Toombul was a beloved restaurant for our family. However, we hadn't visited in nearly 10 months. Yesterday, on a Saturday evening, we decided to return. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by an unpleasant oil smell reminiscent of run-down fish and chips joints. The place seemed dirty and greasy, with grimy surfaces throughout. The sushi benches were messy, with scattered junk and dirty dish cloths. The whole atmosphere was off-putting, making us question if the restaurant was even open for business. We reluctantly tried a few dishes from the conveyor belt, but found them too risky to continue eating. We ultimately decided to leave and find another place to dine. It's disappointing to see Sushi Train in such a state, considering its previous reputation for fresh food and great service. Hopefully, new management will take over and restore it to its former glory. If not, we won't be returning.
Sushi Train hands down has to be my favourite sushi restaurant. The food on the train is always fresh and the staff are quick if you would like to order something off the menu. The VIP cards are great for frequent members as well. Always nice to get some money off when you're a regular diner. The gyozas are tasty and the spicy chicken is definitely a must! Great customer service and not too pricey.
You know what it is like when you just want something quick easy and fresh? This happened with us tonight at Sushi Toombul. We were given a warm cheerful greeting on arrival. On glancing over the morsels on the train even aftrr it had gone around a few times we eere asked if there might be something to our liking off the menu. It was like a bolt from the blue....the Tempura set. Just delicious hot and included prawns salmon and a variety of vrges. The service was quick and the prices, just like the food was good. Will visit again when back in Brisbane.
