The sauces were watery and flavourless and the quantity of meat in the beef massaman was pathetic. I will never order takeaway from here again and will even think twice about eating in based on this recent experience.... and the cost was excessive for such poor quality food..
My wife and I lunched at Thai Naramit on Wednesday 31st May 2017. We ordered two lunch specials – Beef Garlic and Pepper & Chicken Panang curry, both with rice. Our drinks were coconut juice. We were quite impressed by the service and the hospitality of the staff. The lunch specials were good value, mildly spicy and quite delicious. On Tuesday 6th June 2017, we lunched again here with two friends. This time, we selected a banquet for 4 which comprised the following:Entrées:4 Spring Rolls – very steamy hot having been just fried. We had to nibble cautiously so as not to burn our tongues. These came with sweet chilli sauce, with a lettuce leaf and shredded cabbage.Chicken Satay – filleted portions of chicken on a 4 skewers with a tasty peanut sauce and a lettuce leaf and shredded cabbage. Coconut Prawns – 4 king prawns coated with grated coconut and fried. There was a homemade dipping sauce. There was also some grated carrot on a lettuce leaf.Mains:Chicken Yellow Curry – tender slices of chicken in a creamy coconut curry with carrots and potato. This was rather sweetish and not spicy at all.Whole Barramundi Sweet Chilli – interesting presentation with the bony skeletal remains of the fish wrapped around a mound of fish fillets, diced pineapple, capsicum and onion in sweet chilli sauce, garnished with spring onion. There was also grated carrot on a lettuce leaf with a blue flower for decoration.Beef Garlic and Pepper – the beef was tender and well seasoned, however we found the vegetables , especially the bok choy and broccoli, a bit tough and hard to chew on, compared to what we had on our previous visit. Prawn Pad Thai – bean sprouts and fried noodles with prawns, tofu, egg and ground peanut. A nice complementary flavour to the other dishes.Jasmine Rice – the waitress, Manie, served each of us a scoop of steamed rice from an ornate Thai aluminium utensil. The rice was soft and well-cooked. For drinks, we ordered coconut water and Lipton Ice Lemon Tea from the drinks menu. For afters, we ordered a plate of banana fritters – this had 8 banana slices battered and fried, with a small dollop of ice-cream and a small portion of sweet bluish butterfly pea flower sticky rice.Overall, the service was exemplary and the staff very courteous and obliging. The décor was tastefully done in Thai style, and the dishes were very well presented. The place settings had cloth napkins – a nice touch, and cutlery housed in custom-made cloth sleeves. We did not specify the level of spiciness when we placed our buffet order, and consequently found the dishes to be only mildly spicy. My wife and I would have preferred the dishes to have been spicier for our well-seasoned palettes; nevertheless the mildness suited our friends to a tee. This is a very nice restaurant located in the Hendra Plaza shopping precinct. We had to park along Chermside Street on the other side of the railway tracks and walk across the tracks and Zillman Road to the restaurant.
Back again to this restaurant, and once again excellent staff with friendly attitudes that can't do enough. Food was tops , can't fault it . Lovely little restaurant , so if your after great Thai food this place is a must . Not badly priced and byo ( beer included)
The best Thai food outside Thailand. I have been there many times and it never fails to disappoint. Staff are just as exceptional. So glad I live so close to this treasure.
These guys try very hard to make you welcome. Genuinely authentic Thai food with a large menu. Their signature dish is amazing.
