She was friendly, energetic and kept my waterglass and our other drinks full. She was one of the best waitresses we've ever had. Go on. I'll be back next time. Back a second time and had the chickens Tortilla soup. It was very tasty
Escorpion is located in Midtown Atlanta and is part of the URestaurtant Group Sotto Sotto, Fritti and Nova Cucina is also located in the URestaurant Group. We went to Jubilee Dinner on Friday before July 4th. Location and parking: at the St NE Peachtree at the corner of 5. St NE. It's five minutes walk from Fox Theater. Parking: 1) Parking at 5th ST NE. There are 8 or 9 parking spaces in Atlanta. Make sure you pay the automatic counter. That's how we parked. It's only $2 an hour. This is a bargain. One minute walk. 2) Park service at the Escorpion. 3) Parking around the corner of Escorpion on a parking deck. One more minute walk. Parking is not a problem. Outside terrace: Escorpion has the largest outdoor seats in Midtown. Look at my pictures. It had already rained, and more rain came, so we dig inside. Interior restaurant decoration: Large bar with at least 6 TVs around the bar. A large interior seating area with many tables. They have cabins. You are welcomed by a host when you enter. The table already has cloth napkins and cutlery when you sit. Food: You have tacos, fajitas, antojitos (traditional Mexican appetizers). We started with the Guacamole Al Molcajete. It was wonderful. Fresh avocado, onion, tomatoes, Zilantro, lime and chicharrone. If you don't have chicharrons, you have to try. You make it in the kitchen. I'm not a fan of restaurants trying to fool you with a 20-year-old, what that does at your table. Let the professionals do it (see pictures). It's just $7. I'll have it back when I come back. Wife had Fajitas. They were delicious (see picture). I had the Chicken Fried Taco and Fried Shrimp Taco. Shrimp $5 and chicken were $4. The chicken fried taco was incredibly excellent. You need the fried chicken sauce. Alcohol: You have over 20 different tequilas. They have Blanco, Reposado and Añejos. I read about Fortaleza Tequila in Men's Journal magazine. It was our anniversary, so I tried. It was great. BTW, stop drinking Tequilla like a cheap shot. You send it. Go slow. Do not use salt or lime is my recommendation. Blanco is silver Tequila. Reposado tequilas are gold at the age of 2 to 12 months in oak barrels. Añejos, who are 1 to 4 years old. I had the Fortaleza Reposado. I recommend it. Next time I try Siete Lequas. You can have made a margarita with every tequila. Beer: You have Victoria, Pacifico, Corona, Tecate, XX Amber and XX Beer and Negra Modelo and Modelo Especial. I recommend Victoria or Pacifico. I was with Victoria. Further information: the lemonade is freshly squeezed. Wife said it was delicious. Server and staff: The ole lady had a question about the Guacamole Al Molcajete before we ordered. Our server, Abby, found a guy who answers our question. He came out and told us how to do it and use wheat to make the chicharrones. It turns out that the guy was the director of the operation for the four restaurants and was randomly at Escorpion this night. I was impressed that someone at this level would take the time to explain a menu item. This is an excellent service. Abby the server was great. We didn't have to ask. The manager came over and checked us twice. Two have to try out my experiences: the chicken fried Taco and the Guacamole Al Molcajete. Would I go back? Absolutely! More information: Families are welcome. We saw a family with 7 or 8 years. I would not recommend families going after 10 a.m. on a Friday or Saturday night. They would receive, but there are probably many couples, and individual people from party after 10 pm in Midtown. Fuchs Theater: I recommend you to try Escopion, but plan your visit if the Fox Theater, this is a 5 minute walk on the street, is not from a show. They do not want to arrive if mamma mia leaves 15 minutes beforehand. The place is packed. Dog friendly: Midtown has many dog owners, and I think the outdoor seats are dog friendly.
I must admit that I was skeptical to have a great experience in a midtown restaurant (many places use the fact that they will always be busy because of the location, so do not necessarily have to stand out with food or service). We were pleasantly surprised from the beginning to the end! I have worked in hospitality all my life in a variety of capacities from companies to cashiers and have seen absolutely the worst to the best as a reference point. Found street parking right next to Trace Apartments at 10:30 and did not have to pay, but street parking is paid every day except Sundays until 10:00. I don't know if there's a garage nearby that provides validation. We were immediately greeted by a male host who began to happily draw tables with a server when we asked our party to sit in the bar area of six. I expected we were inconvenience, but he treated us like expected guests with a reservation. Excellent start! Our server Jonny (no H lol) was exceptional. He imagined that we immediately had water and chips/salsa while waiting for our margaritas. He even updated us when the bar was supported at one point and thanked us for our patience. There are SO FEW PLACES who think about the guest enough to let us know what's going on when things don't go exactly as expected, so I was blown away from it. We weren't in a rush anyway, but it was such a nice gesture. He beat with us during the meal and patient, knowingly helped the guys decide what to order Tequila shots to explain differences about brands. The food was good. I could probably have done without what was sweet in the Enchiladas, but it was full. I shared it with a friend because we were not so hungry. We also had the queso fundido, which was absolutely out of this WORLD And some of the best chips and salsa I've ever had in a Mexican food restaurant (I'm from Arizona so that it says a lot). Jonny was asked to retrieve and edit our *separate* checks at the end of the night (which can often be annoying for servers; he did not communicate that he was minded) and wanted us a good evening. He was really what made our experience special, as well as Will the bartender. Did not have the opportunity for him to serve us, but in accordance with all the others who helped us last night, he was very friendly and interlocutor as we were on the way. I hope I'll join the bar next time. You can get tequila and Mexican food in many places, but I would definitely come back only for the service. You have to look at Escorpion!
The food was so amazing. My very nice drink was great. My waitress? Worse. If it weren't for the atmosphere (which was incredible) I wouldn't return. It was very easy to find at the corner and the exterior decoration draws you for the amazing interior decoration. Almost perfect.
Overall liked the place. Good location. Good drinks options. Tequila tour seemed really nice though I did go for recommended margarita and it was nice too. Cheese relleno could have used some veggies. Guac would have been nice and if I could replace refried beans with black beans. Other places are getting more accommodating of making such replacement so I am sure these guys will too. Overall, I recommend the place for a date, dinner with friends, or to have a family dining together.
