Then, they said it would be ready in two minutes, despite our prior confirmation that it was ready before we left home. After waiting ten minutes, he finally received our food. The biggest disappointment came when we opened the entree containers. It was a chaotic mix of rice, beans, meat, maduros, sauce, and what looked like pico de gallo all jumbled together—it was a total mess (see attached pictures). I hadn’t even wanted a sauce, but the online ordering system required me to select one. I've never encountered a restaurant that combines a side sauce with the food instead of serving it separately. Our kids refused to eat any of it, which is understandable. I was genuinely shocked by how they served the food. I've ordered takeout from Papis many times, and their entrees usually come in divided containers to keep everything separate. Beans are always served in a separate container with their natural juices. This experience was unlike anything I've seen before, and the presentation was definitely unappealing. If you decide to order from the new KSM location, be aware of this issue. I hope this is just a temporary situation and that they will resolve these problems, as the food itself is usually quite good. I will continue to support Papis when I can visit the Ponce/Myrtle location in person, but the KSM location has some serious shortcomings.
The food was overall excellent, particularly the beef. However, the maduros were overcooked and not as caramelized or sweet as I would have liked. The server accidentally spilled coffee on the plate while delivering it. On a positive note, the tostones and green sauce were fantastic. The service was very kind, and the decor was beautiful, with art adorning the walls. I noticed that the drink menu hadn’t been updated to show the new prices, but the server was transparent about that. It was a busy spot, so there was a 20-minute wait.
The service was friendly, and the location is great. Parking can be a bit challenging, but we were fortunate to find a spot right away. As for the food, it was just mediocre at best. My Vaca Frita was overly seasoned, and the Plátano Maduro wasn't cooked all the way through. The yellow rice was also just okay. My wife's Lechón Asado resembled more of a stew. We ordered tostones but didn't receive them, which really brought down our experience to 2 stars.
This was my first time at this establishment. We ordered an empanada tray. That was delicious! The jerk chicken sandwich was really good! I rate it 4 stars because it took me almost one hour to find parking! Overall, I would definitely visit again, however, I?ll probably catch an Uber next time! ????
I’ve ordered from here twice and each time has been fresh and delicious! I love the hearty and juicy sandwiches and wraps, especially the Papis sandwich, Pork Wrap, and Jerk Chicken Wrap, all served with crispy fries that are delicious. I also sampled their Cuban platter with yucca fries, cheese balls, and more, as well as the chicken soup served with rice, which is plenty for two bowls—everything was fantastic! I highly recommend their crab cakes as well; they have great texture and flavor! And I absolutely adore their mango shake—it's just perfect! It’s hard to find places that use real mango instead of syrup; I wish they offered it in gallon sizes! I was in the mood for dessert, so I ordered their flan, which was tasty, although most of the sauce spilled out of the container. Delivery was quick—about 30 minutes—and the prices are reasonable. This place definitely fills me up!
